The Dough Smith Goals

#1 Make it Delicious

Delicious food starts with high quality ingredients. The type of flours, chocolate, butter, milk and any ingredient matters so I'm picky when I select what goes into my bakes. You'll notice a lot of the ingredients I choose are organic, mostly because those are the ones that give the best flavor.

#2 Right Amount of Sweet

Yes, sugar is delicious but too much sweet can overpower and ruin a treat. The right amount of sweet enhances a bake's other flavors, it doesn't overwhelm them. My cookies and cakes will still satisfy your sweet tooth but you'll get flavor far beyond just sugar.

#3 Be Kind to the Earth

A big concern of starting a home bakery is producing more waste. That's why I do my best to use compostable packaging, avoid single use supplies and look for earth friendly options whenever possible. Luckily, we have a flock of outdoor chickens that help take care of food waste.

The 'Dough Smith'

My name is Alyssa Meehl and I'm the baker behind Dough Smith. I live in Osakis, MN with my husband and two children. My interest in baking started as a teenager but has grown into a passion over the years.

I'm a self-taught baker and have learned my skills from reading/baking from the cookbooks of seriously talented bakers and pastry chefs. It's been a lot of baking and learning from my mishaps but over the years I've learned to bake up some pretty tasty creations. Now I'm excited to share my baking creations with all of you!
